Nature-based recreation for the elderly in urban areas: assessing opportunities and demand as planning support

Abstract Background With elderly people comprising a growing share of the population, landscape planners need to consider their specific requirements enhance opportunities for them engage in nature-based recreation (NBR). However, few studies have spatially assessed potential, demand, and cities. Thus, this paper aimed model investigate NBR demand urban areas. A spatial framework based on ESTIMAP was developed, considering special factors better reflect people’s preferences regarding at city scale. In particular, were aesthetics, various types facilities, proximity. The street network used understand walking behaviours green spaces related facilities.
